Band Banquet Information

Hello everyone!
Congratulations to everyone on a successful final concert and two great performances at State Band Contest last week! This message is to remind you of our Spring Banquet and Awards to be held this Thursday, May 9 at 7:00 PM. The Jazz Band will perform at this event and will meet at 6:30 for warm-up wearing all black. We will run this much like the marching band banquet where each family brings their own entree and then a side or dessert to share. We would like to have freshman and junior families bring a dessert and sophomore and senior families bring a side dish. The music boosters will provide fruit punch.

Families - please plan to arrive by 6:45 so that we can have everyone seated and ready to eat at 7:00 PM sharp. The Jazz Band members and their families will eat first so that the Jazz Band can perform while everyone is finishing up dinner.


We have a lot of surprises planned for the evening - join us for great music, awards, and memories as we close our final year together at Midpark!

Announcements Week of 4/24

Hello, everyone!




Mr. Kish has asked that we not do a combined rehearsal during school next week because students have been pulled out of class so much lately. As a result, we will be holding a full band rehearsal from 2:30 - 3:15 on Wednesday, May 1 to prepare for our concert on Thursday. We are aware that we will have some sports conflicts. If you have a game/meet that day, please try to stay as long as you can for this rehearsal. If you have a sports conflict, please let Mrs. Patriok know ASAP so we know who we will be missing.
Mr. Fudale will be coming to Midpark Tuesday afternoon for the drumline auditions. Percussionists who are in Orchestra will be pulled out when it is time for your audition.

Thank you for being flexible as we wrap up our final weeks of Midpark Band! Don't forget our two upcomingconcerts/awards nights - May 2 at 7:00 PM is our Spring Concert and Senior Awards (warm-up at 6:30 PM). The final banquet and awards will be held on Thursday, May 9. All-State Band Information now available!

Any student interested in auditioning for the 2014 All-State Band should click on the following link for audition information:  http://omea-ohio.org/Public/Public.html  We can get the etudes for you at school - please note that you will also need to prepare a Class A or B solo from the OMEA contest list.  Recorded auditions and applications must be submitted by May 31.  See Mrs. Patriok for etudes and help if you are interested!

Disney/Contest Reminders

Disney T-shirt, hoodie order forms went home today - the artwork had to be adjusted and it came back late so in order to try to get the shirts before we leave for the trip we will be placing an order this Wednesday, March 13. Please turn in orders and money by that date if you would like a Disney Trip shirt. (The order form will be posted under forms on the website later today!)



Don't forget to turn in all Disney forms ASAP! Remember that all medication must come to school with the medication form signed by a doctor. This includes over the counter medications! The emergency medical form must be notarized - if you will not be here the night before we leave for the trip to drop off luggage with your child, please have the form notarized in advance and send it in to school.

Contest Itineraries are posted on the website - be sure to check the details of your group's trip to Avon Lake this weekend! Best of luck to both groups!

Seniors: Music Booster Scholarship applications are in the band room - applications are due April 5th! One scholarship will be awarded in each group - band, orchestra, and choir.

Max and Erma's Fundraiser a HUGE Success!

Thank you to everyone who came and ate at Max and Erma's yesterday to support our fundraiser and their grand re-opening!  A special thank you to the band members who braved the cold and played for the ceremony!  The management of Max and Erma's was so happy with our turnout and performance that they gave us 20% of the dinner revenue from last night! (Instead of 20% of people who brought in our flyer).  They also gave us 20% of half their lunch revenue so we ended up with a total of $1379.80!  This will definitely help with the deficit we had for the bus to Disney!  Thanks again to everyone for your support!

Time Change for Tonight!

I received an email from Max and Erma's this morning at 7:15 that they are starting the ceremony at 6:00 tonight - not 6:30! We will move all of our times up a half hour. The school will be open from 5:15 - 5:40 for instrument pick up and we will meet in the Max and Erma's parking lot as a group at 5:45. Remember to wear your band shirt and a winter coat! We will perform at 6:00 and then hopefully you can stay and enjoy dinner with your family. Please remember to bring the flyer and present it to your server so that the band receives 20% of your check total. Sorry for the last minute change - we'll see you tonight!
